Eswatini Kitchen was established in 1991 by a Catholic priest and an Anglican nun in order to create jobs for impoverished women and to subsidize Manzini Youth Care (MYC) projects.
The women earn above the minimum wage rate and are paid double for overtime. Employees receive a pension, free health care and can participate in a savings program. There are also literacy classes and on-going AIDS prevention campaigns.
Manzini Youth Care began in 1978 to provide a loving home, good food and an education to thousands of street children and orphans at numerous youth centres. MYC also provides schooling to other at-risk children and arranges training in various trades. MYC believes that recreational programs in sports and music help to build esteem and self-discipline.
