Uganda Crafts is an organization managed by the disadvantaged to help the disadvantaged: many of the artisans are physically disabled, widowed or suffering from HIV/AIDS. Approximately 85% of Uganda Craft's artisans are women. Located in Kampala, Uganda Crafts provides training in product design, quality control and marketing. In addition, employees receive health benefits, emergency loans, transportation, and revolving loans to enable artisans to start new projects. An 85-acre plot of land has been purchased to build a Uganda Crafts Village where disabled youth can learn crafts, trades and other business skills. Many of these young people have now successfully started their own businesses.
