The South India Producers Association (SIPA) works with 30 artisan groups in south India, employing over 10,000 artisans, to market their products internationally. SIPA also provides managerial training, skills development, information-sharing and consultancy services. Bethany Colony is one example of a workshop represented by SIPA. It is affiliated with the local Salvation Army leprosy hospital and was established to provide on-going care to recovering lepers. Families live together at the colony, and about 300 spouses of patients are involved in creating tote bags, place mats and tablecloths.
