Pekerti Nusantara works to supplement the income of subsistence farmers and rural people through the development and sale of traditional crafts. With the mechanization of farming, and the problem of land loss due to inheritance procedures, many agricultural workers have been forced to migrate to cities looking for work. Pekerti encourages artisan co-ops to become self-reliant through workshops, seminars and counseling. They also offer training in small business management, product development and marketing, and pre-payment. Pekerti assists artisans by collectively purchasing sustainable raw materials, offering interest-free loans and micro-credit schemes for investment, school scholarships, help with medical expenses and emergency aid in disasters.
