Camari

Camari

The work of Camari enables craftspeople and farmers, or “campesinos,” to remain in their communities instead of leaving to find scarce work in the cities. Camari unites people, ensures they receive stable, fair income and enables them to carry on family traditions of working the land, as well as preserving indigenous culture through the creation of traditional crafts. A Quechua word meaning thanks or gift, Camari works to support sustainable agriculture and fishing businesses. Today, they represent 6500 families, running numerous shops in major towns and cities, as well as selling to international markets, both Fair Trade and conventional.
