Angel and box

Join the fight against child hunger in Canada, and abroad.  Statistics from the Conference Board of Canada reveal that 1 in 7 Canadian school-age children lives in poverty, prompting Ten Thousand Villages Canada to take our fair trade practices one step further this holiday season.  With the success of our 2013 & 2014 exclusive angel ornaments we are introducing a brand new design for 2015.   This November and December, $2 from each purchase of our exclusive Angel ornament will be donated to Breakfast for Learning, one of Canada’s leading national charities dedicated to child nutrition programs.

Artisans from Saffy Handicrafts (Social Action for Filipino Youth) in the Philippines use the translucent, off-white capiz shell of the windowpane oyster and shimmering painted wire to give each ornament its exquisite look.  Each ornament comes a carefully crafted box by Get Paper Industries in Nepal.  Each gift box is crafted using hand-made paper and non-toxic dyes.

Now fair trade is not only supporting artisans’ children, but will help support school-based meal and snack programs for Canadian kids too.
