Second Chances Pendant

In a ceramics factory, breakage happens. But that doesn’t mean those shards must be thrown away. Makers from Craft Link in Vietnam make use of every piece to create these lovely pendants. No two are exactly alike. Craft Link works closely with the Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi to preserve the traditional skills of ethnic minority craftspeople.

Such a pretty necklace and I love the story of turning something broken into something beautiful. The only negative point is that the necklace easily came unclasped. I wouldn’t always notice right away and the pendant would fall off. No matter where I lost it it always turned up again, and it was actually rather entertaining, until one day this summer it dropped off in a driveway. I found it the next day, but it had been run over and mangled beyond salvaging. Too bad, I’ll have to buy another one.
