Kalamkari Patchwork Bag

Sale $25 $14.99

Bright, cheerful and just the bag you’ll reach for a weekend stroll or vacation day trip. The adjustable strap swings easily over the body for extra security. Each patch is hand-painted using a traditional kalamkari technique. It derives its name from kalam and kari, literally meaning “pen-work.” Artisans from Asha Handicrafts Association sketch and paint with vegetable dyes using burnt tamarind twig, mango twig or bamboo to which thread is tied. Snaps closed. Extra inside pocket.

About the Artisan

Asha, which means “hope” in Sanskrit, was started by professionals responding to the abject poverty of artisans, the problem of exploitative middlemen, and the disappearance of many traditional crafts.

I love the color and the pattern! It’s my go-to purse when I have the bare minimum in it; keys, wallet, phone, hand lotion, sunglasses and with a single snap closure, I’m good to go. The strap is adjustable and it’s longenough to use as a crossbody! **Be careful when opening the bag, it happened once to me where I tugged and the fabric tore around the snap.**
