State Of The Art Wall Hanging

Banish bare walls with this rectangular abstract art cut metal wall hanging from Haiti. Artisans cut open 55-gallon drums, pound them flat, and then mark designs on the black metal with chalk. Using a chisel, they cut through the metal to make designs. Among Haiti’s most original art forms is the cut metal work from Croix des Bouquets, a small village outside of Port-au-Prince. The tradition began in the early 1930s with Georges Liataud’s imaginative cemetery crosses crafted from recycled metal.

I loved this art piece the minute I saw it. The colours are earthy and a perfect combination. The workmanship is excellent. I get great joy from seeing it in my home and receive compliments from friends and family all the time.
